If bedtime in your house feels like a nightly battle, you're not alone. Many parents of children with autism, sensory processing differences, or other developmental needs describe similar nights: a child who won't settle, who moves constantly, rocks, or climbs out of bed no matter how many times you tuck them back in.
Claybeds was built with these nights in mind: a padded, high-walled space that many families find helps their child feel more contained and settled at bedtime.
What makes a Claybed different
Every Claybed has padded interior walls, breathable mesh panels for airflow and visibility, and a strong, supportive frame. The idea isn't to restrict a child, it's to create a softer, more defined space with high padded sides that can feel calmer than a standard bed frame, especially for children who move around a lot during the night.
Why we built it
We started Claybeds after searching for something like this for our own son, Clay. You can read more about our story here. What we couldn't find on the market, we built ourselves, and it's grown into something we now make for families across New Zealand.
Is a Claybed right for your child?
Every child and every family's situation is different. If you're weighing up whether a Claybed could help your household get more settled nights, we're happy to talk it through with no pressure. You can also check our FAQ page for details on sizing, materials, and delivery, or our funding page if cost is part of the decision.
